On this day in 1969, Miles Davis started recording "Bitches Brew" This wasn't just an album; it was a revolution. Jazz went electric, and the world hasn't been the same since... A thread🧵
Miles brought together a stellar ensemble: Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, and more. The sessions were loose, experimental, and raw—Miles gave minimal direction, letting the musicians’ creativity run wild.
@SVG__Collection Another interesting side note: one musician, for some unknown reason, got a song in the album named after him by Miles. John McLaughlin.
@SVG__Collection I like In A Silent Way much better. But that's why we can all voice our opinions. :)
@SVG__Collection Groundbreaking. Hard to play, even for a player.
@SVG__Collection Great album, but Miles music in the 80s were rubbish
@SVG__Collection @jemgilbert Jazz already went electric a while before this album…
@SVG__Collection Incredibly influential album.
@SVG__Collection It's almost as if...Miles was the only one to do Jazz Fusion RIGHT.
@SVG__Collection This is probably the best thread I've read in a bit. Listening now.
@SVG__Collection Was Bitches Brew really a good album to listen to? or was it just "experimental" and "advanced?"
@SVG__Collection Amazing record and how I quite weirdly got into Miles actually 🔥
@SVG__Collection Might as well listen to Led Zeppelin. At least there’s lyrics
@SVG__Collection One of the great albums so inventive and original..
@SVG__Collection I am an old lady now. When I was in high school there was a boy in one of my classes who went to Fillmore West almost every weekend. He saw Miles Davis there. He told us Mr. Davis played much of the show with his back to the audience. As kids we were into serious music stuff!
@SVG__Collection I was 13 when this came out. I would visit friends, seeing the album at their houses. It usually didn't belong to their parents. It belonged to older teenage siblings or those in their 20s. It opened up jazz to a younger audience. Even my 13 year old self was curious!
@SVG__Collection TBH Bitches Brew is not my favorite record. But I am a huge fan of what came from it. Mahavishu, Return To Forever, Weather Report ... Miles just went and started a whole new genre. Legendary
