@SVG__Collection Ms. Flack. MY FAVORITE, as many in here know. The entire production on this song/album (please listen to whole album) is brilliant. The choice of the delayed back beat w/the bass drum was deliberate/Ms. Flack adding the lyrical bridge in that wasn’t in the original version.

@SVG__Collection The Caribbean flavor almost gives it a hip hop vibe. There’s irony in the album being released same month as Hip Hop being born. Aug 1, 1973, 10 days before birth of Hip Hop. The song had been out since January. Ms. Flack heard this song, rearranged it, & made a masterpiece.
