Miles Davis’s response when an interviewer asks if he thinks Black musicians are genetically superior to white musicians
@SVG__Collection Miles never answered. Why do whites "lag"?
@SVG__Collection Idiotic questions. Miles handled himself like a pro here 💙
@SVG__Collection Miles was a force of nature...he was the wealthiest black man in America at one time. I saw him twice...words can't describe his greatness.
Finally, a daily capsule that speaks your hunger’s language.
@SVG__Collection He is right though. There tends to be a difference in how white musicians play blues, jazz, funk, soul etc, compared to black musicians. No idea if that's genetic, cultural, or whatever.
@SVG__Collection Don Cheadle would have an Oscar if he had the proper Miles Davis biopic material.
@SVG__Collection Miles is the baddest motherf”,!er in music history. Tougher than nails, smoother than silk, and raw to the bone. His stare would burn a hole though your soul. His music would fill the hole. Cooler than the North Pole.
@SVG__Collection the interviewer might not have half the iq that Miles did
@SVG__Collection Miles real answer to that question 🤣
@SVG__Collection That last part was a word.
@SVG__Collection I never realized how ignorant that Harry Reasoner and Mike Wallace was until much later in my life. How embarrassing! WTF is wrong with these ppl?
This is what 30 minutes a day adds up to💰
@SVG__Collection He mentioned that in his autobiography if I recall... amazing read by the way.
@SVG__Collection He told it like it was. Love this
@SVG__Collection Never suffer and never will. Miles ain't no joke
@SVG__Collection Reminds me a little of John Lennon. No matter what the interviewer says, he disagrees. I think because he's a genius who doesn't like being pinned down and categorized and labeled like an insect in a collection, the way journalists like to do. Dylan was kinda like that too.
@SVG__Collection Miles Davis' father was a very wealthy dental surgeon who owned a ranch. So he lived more comfortably than most blacks during the time.
@SVG__Collection Soul is imbedded beloved… the beat runs deep
@SVG__Collection Interviewer leaning right into stereotypes and clichés. Davis put him straight
man lol "...are black musicians genetically better than white?" "...does [sic] black musicians hurt more? because you came out of slavery, you play on the beat." it doesn't get better than a white interviewer mangling his grammar to pose the most awkward and delicate question in all music history.
@SVG__Collection Terrible line of questions, you’d think he would want to keep the interview about the artist, a legend, and not try to school an audience about music
@SVG__Collection He also admonished his nephew for “always fu king up the time”. Listen to his audio book, it’s glorious. Probably a record for most “Motherfucker” mentioned in a book. 😂
@SVG__Collection Great that Miles would just say it as he saw it - measured but stripped of the veneer. Gets everybody to a better place.
Special delivery! Count down to the most magical hair days of the year with the Kitsch North Pole Post 12-Day Advent Calendar! !
@SVG__Collection reminds me of how much i miss him-miles styles
@SVG__Collection Miles Davis was one of the most incredible musicians I've ever seen. Watching him wandering back and forth across the stage, seemingly detached from the audience, focused only on playing and leaving long moments of silence, made you ache to hear what was coming next. Genius!
@SVG__Collection The interviewer behavior is gross 🤮
@SVG__Collection s/o to those who grew up with both folks in the house
@SVG__Collection People sometimes forget that Mile's dad was a well respected dentist. Miles wasn't from a poor family. Nothing wrong with that. We should all be so lucky.
@SVG__Collection Absolutely brilliant answers to moronic questions.
@SVG__Collection Listening to In A Silent Way now as this video showed up on my feed.
@SVG__Collection He handled that interview very well
@SVG__Collection Lag behind the beat? Ridiculous. So sick of racist garbage like this.
@SVG__Collection I need confirmation on the story of why Miles Davis didn't like to do interviews.
@SVG__Collection White-guilt complex on the interviewer, even back then. Some things never change, I guess. Miles Davis remained cool. Good clip
