It's excellent to see that usage of MS MARCO's shallow judgments for eval have finally been explored thoroughly! Better yet- they provide concrete steps that can be taken to make the leaderboard useful again. Great work, @NegarEmpr et al!

Today in our reading group, we are reading the excellent paper by @claclarke et al. discussing the observation that neural rankers might be better than the ground truth on the MS Marco dataset. The paper suggests a nice fix to the problem arxiv.org/abs/2109.00062 #IRReadings
