I actually think the unveiling of gpt-oss is a much bigger development than GPT-5 release.
One observation about the startup & VC market right now: the noise-to-signal ratio is at levels that we haven't seen since the 90s dot com era bubble. I empathize with the folks doing the noise filtering because it is an astounding challenge!
GPT-5 and other chat LLMs are just RAG for the Internet.
It's really cool to see OpenAI release open source versions of gpt-oss-120b/20b with permissive licenses. I have the 120b parameter model running locally on my Macbook Pro and it's performing really well on coding, general Q&A and RAG applications. I haven't run benchmarks yet…
I resist using my favorite word "delve" anymore because it's apparently one of the most outputted words by ChatGPT.
If you're finding yourself needing to double check everything with ChatGPT or another LLM... Time to quit those LLMs.

The future of AI is to make the non-deterministic (lack of context) -> more deterministic with (increased level of detail/context).
Current AI is quite flawed, but I think this show-cases the potential for how super personalized attention/care in a 1-on-1 chat with an AI bot is a massive differentiator versus the human equivalent. You may share things at anytime with no need to create any appointments or rush
