Supplemental Security Income is meant to be a lifeline for people with disabilities, but decades-old eligibility rules are forcing them to live in poverty. Advocates like @mattbc and @rebeccavallas are right: we must #DemolishDisabledPoverty and fix SSI. nytimes.com/2021/07/30/us/…
@SenWarren @mattbc @rebeccavallas AND revise it to fit the chronic illness communities long forgotten and belittles AND the disabled COVID longhaulers, like myself. Was a healthy firefighter/ paramedic- now completely unable to work. At 16.5 months post infection. Application pending / being reviewed.
@SenWarren @mattbc @rebeccavallas We have also been working on the disability things behind the scenes and would love to talk with other advocates being the scenes to learn from and work with. Please feel free to reach out [email protected]
@SenWarren @rebeccavallas @mattbc We need this now more than ever please continue to fight to get the #SSIRestorationAct included in the upcoming Budget Reconciliation and help #DemolishDisabledPoverty!
@SenWarren @mattbc @rebeccavallas As a single disabled mom We r now living w/a sole income of 780.From SSI.Yes we qualify 4 other resources but it's really hard 2 make it always jumping thru hoops. Please work on this problem of disabled poverty because SSI should b better than this 4 chronically ill & injured.
@SenWarren @johnRL73 @mattbc @rebeccavallas Amen Senator Warren!
@SenWarren @mattbc @rebeccavallas Yes, we have a disabled adult son that gets about a thousand dollars dollars a month. They want me to give accounting of what we do with this money? Spend it!
@SenWarren @mattbc @rebeccavallas INITIATION DIALOGUE ACTION IS OF PRIME REQUIREMENT
@SenWarren @mattbc @rebeccavallas I'll just say, I know how limited political will can be. And that any boost is better than nothing. But please fight to ensure that we get more than nothing.
