At 14.45 of post-Cabinet press conference Minister Upston shows a misunderstanding of 2 out of the 3 main benefits: m.youtube.com/watch?v=S7wpQf…. The Minister says Jobseeker does not have a sickness element and old sickness benefit falls under Supported Living. That’s incorrect. >

Luxon again suggesting in his post Cab press conference that young people are “now languishing for 24 years on a benefit on average”: m.youtube.com/watch?v=S7wpQf… (10.12). Highly misleading not to point out this is a forecast for future (based on analysis that hasn’t been released).

A line from PM Luxon’s speech yesterday: people on a youth payment or young parent payment are spending on average 24 years on a benefit, and “24 years. Up almost 50% in just 3 years.” How could this figure go from a 16 year to 24 year average in 3 yrs, or am I misunderstanding?
