Civil Services offer huge opportunities. However, one must take a hard look at one's capabilities, limitations & the direction before committing year after year in the pursuit of Civil Services. It can be colossal waste of time & opportunities that may be available elsewhere.

Every year lakhs of students appear for UPSC. Only a few hundred make it. Rest spend most productive years trying for the dream. Later, lakhs of these bright people struggle to find alternative career. Gets difficult due to age & orientation. A huge waste of national resources.
