Instead of saying: "I could never vote #BidenHarris2020 because of those things they did 10+ years ago." Try saying: "I'm stubborn/privileged enough to risk four more years of a bigoted administration because my rights won't be affected by it." And say it with your chest.

SUGGESTION: Check your feed and see if you’re following @bennisnedry. If you are, unfollow them. Maybe let them know that you’re doing it—NOT because you’re trying to “cancel” them, but because homophibic bigotry is bad for your brain and endangers your friend’s lives.
