A (good) whitepaper is really just a sales letter in disguise. Educational tone, provides value, but has a lot of sales logic infused into it.

Before choosing a marketing “tactic”, make sure you understand exactly what you want. “SEO” is cool, but if your ideal prospect isn’t searching for something related to your field, then you’re not going to get a lot out of it.

Content marketing is a great tool, I love it, but “education” by itself never works. Instead, you need to understand how it makes your audience move forward, meaning it’s almost a bunch of “mini-sales-letters” strung together.

A lot of times, you can position your product dozens of ways (and to dozens of markets). That alone will expand the size of your “prospect pool”, merely need to create a specific promotion for each.

If you’re going to run ads, please avoid specific (or hyperbolic) claims. Not only scares your prospects away, but also opens you up to FTC litigation.

If I was going to do cold calls, I’d at least send the prospect a sales letter 10~ days earlier. Introduces them to your offer, creating a warm(ish) lead because of it.

It’s insane how long some of these agencies can get away with “brand awareness” ads. If you can’t track results, meaning leads or sales, then it’s probably not the best approach.

I love how people think they can get a “funnel” for $1K, because there’s not going to be a lot of “writing” involved. Bruh, if writing was the crux of this work, everybody would be rich.

Converting unaware leads is fun, as it’s generally the largest part of your market, but it’s also the hardest thing to do. Much better off starting with “most aware”, tapping that out, then moving up the ladder afterwards.

It blows my mind with how bad most “real” business owners are at marketing. You shouldn’t be celebrating when your sales team gets a 1% conversion rate on the month.

I'll never understand why anybody thinks "business card" advertising ever works. Very few people are actively looking for your service, much better off creating a "sales pitch" and generating demand.

If nobody wants your service (i.e. Facebook Ads), then you have to meet them at an indirect angle. Start with the problem first, then explain how your service solves it. Nobody actually "hates" your offer, they're just looking at it the wrong way.
