Hovering high above the sun's chromosphere, a detached solar prominence is held in place by magnetic forces invisible to the eye.

Solar Prominences domain one side of the Sun. This is a short time lapse with each part being 60 minutes, compressed down to 10 seconds.
Weather is slowly starting to get better for doing solar imaging finally. Hoping that this year is going to produce some cracking images and time lapses.

Easter sunday was full of action on the Sun. This time lapse was made using 3 scopes, all watching different parts of the sun.
Not the best of sessions, weather has been on and off these past few weeks. One moment, it's sunshine and blue skies, the next is grey and cloudy. Looks like the weekend might be a better run.

Winter is officially over and today marked the Spring Equinox, what better way to celebrate the start of the season than a 45min time lapse of a large solar prominence that sat on the limb of the sun, and a mix of other features.
While im normally better known for my images of the Sun, last nights Lunar Eclipse was right on my door step and didnt have to go anywhere, so i threw out the 150mm scope and my trusty Sony A7C and snapped away while freezing my butt off!
Managed to get a chance to get first light with the new Sky Watcher Heliostar 76 Solar Telescope.

Being relatively new to X, it seems a bit odd to post a compilation of videos that i have done during 2024. That said, these are some of the best captures from 2024 of Solar Prominences and coronal loops. Looking forward to a sunny start to 2025.
It's now winter meaning i have limited opportunities with the sun, but until then, here is a time lapse from the summer. A massive filament could be seen using even a small solar telescope. This is approximately 3 hours worth, shot on 2 separate solar scopes.
Had to get the solar scope out and do a long 4 how time lapse. So many proms!!
