Useless fact for some, but the best coq au vin in the Cape is the pre-cooked, frozen version from Klein Joostenburg deli. It smells and tastes authentic, perfect wine sauce, meaty chicken, lardon. Not close - it is the real thing. @bigbigjoe1

@emilejoubert I’ve filled many a mate’s freezer with that, and several of the other frozen meals @SpringbokChef makes at Klein Joostenberg - best possible gift for frazzled parents after the arrival of a baby. And yes, undoubtedly one of the best I’ve had.

Late February / early March are simply hedonistic fresh produce weeks in the Cape. Ample oxheart tomatoes, ripe figs, first of season’s porcini, superb duck terrine from @SpringbokChef at Klein Joostenberg, and bread from the new sourdough sheriff in town at @LaMottewine bakery.
