A major step forward for FSHD research, and a powerful example of patient-driven progress. Our latest study, published last week in Scientific Reports, introduces a first-of-its-kind MRI machine learning-based model to predict how FSHD progresses: muscle by muscle, joint by joint, and region by region. FSHD is a complex and highly variable neuromuscular disorder, making it difficult to track with conventional tools. This research shows that whole-body MRI, paired with AI, can detect changes and forecast progression in ways that traditional functional metrics simply cannot. This work would not have been possible without the leadership of Emma Weatherley and @FSHD Global Research Foundation, who funded this effort and helped shape it. We are grateful to collaborate with FSHD Global and co-funders @FSHresearch, @seattlechildren, and @FSHDCanada, all united by a shared goal: making trials smarter, faster, and more personalized for people living with FSHD.
