IMO, our core choice is how we see others. As victims? As villains? Or as people who can similarly choose. Our choice is then reflected in our emotions. If we truly see people as people, we will be blessed with the fruits of the Spirit, especially peace.

And with that, I have a much greater empathy for both of these gentlemen. The stories we tell ourselves about the worth of others (and by extension ourselves) are powerful and I wish to gain greater skill in defaulting to better stories about others.

Just had a thought about taking on "the name of Christ." One of Christ's names is "the Word" because He is "the messenger of salvation" (D&C 93:8). This seems to mean that, in taking upon us the name of Christ, we also point the way to salvation.

We speak about how essential agency is to happiness, but do we know where the root of that agency is? What is the core choice we make? Vs. What are just consequences of that choice? For example, I say all emotions are a consequence of our choice about stories we tell ourselves.
