The leprechaun was crafty and escaped 18 highly engineered and decorated traps that were set in my classroom... but brought great joy and left behind a note, and some GOLD(fish)! @Poca_ES

I don’t use this as instruction, but when I saw my 3rd graders were playing this during recess on the blacktop with chalk, I stopped them and taught them “invisible cloak” where arms, legs, etc... were revealed from the cloak (like Harry Potter).

I checked out of the hospital AMA after being admitted for dehydration while 6 months pregnant because I had to present 2 sessions at our state literacy conference that day, and no one could pinch hit- checked myself back in later that day. #teachingwhilesick

After learning about China, writing/ illustrating books about the history & culture, map skills, making dragons, etc- my Ss REALLY wanted to learn how to use chopsticks. I wish I could have used real food, but cotton ball dumplings had to do! #poca_es

Your struggling students want a better connection with you more than a better lesson. Your struggling students want to learn & do well in your class & hope you still ❤️ them even if they don't. Struggling students really do care about their grades but believe no one else does.
