I’ve been spending more time on instagram again, and I think it’s so sad that starving oneself/excessive exercise/doing other unhealthy things to shrink one’s body is often being sold as “self-care” and “putting yourself first”. 😭

I am honestly darn tired of reading disrespectful stigmatizing stuff about eating disorders. I don’t think people would make the same “jokes” about cancer or other life-threatening diseases - which is exactly what eating disorders are.

AN doesn't magically develop at a BMI threshold... People become more medically and mentally unwell in attempts to qualify to get help with BMI barriers - working to gain validation from themselves and insurance that they are "sick enough." BMI criteria for AN is dangerous.
