$MCD: another strong Q with 18% y/y eps growth, rev up 13% y/y - both better than expected. 8.8% sss impressive against last year's 9.5%. Pricing and traffic beat with franchise margin up 50 bps y/y, OM up 80bps y/y and SG&A down 120bps. #consumer

150k jobs were added in Oct, according to the NFP establishment survey, with net two-month revisions of -101k. However, the household survey where we get the unemployment data shows a decline of 348k...most since April 2020.

Jobs data weak today, some due to UAW, but that doesn't explain all of it. Unemployment & underemployment rates are up ~half a percentage point in the last six mos. Clear cooling. Market reaction is betting this is enough for the Fed, yields down ~10bps, first cut got pulled

Productivity (blue) for Q3 was gangbusters at 4.7% q/q. Unit labor costs meanwhile were -0.8%. More productivity is a sign of improving supply, both labor and supply chains, and is one avenue toward a softer landing if it can stay strong or keep rising.

The quits rate (part of the JOLTS release) remained steady at 2.3% in September, in-line with the pre-pandemic avg. Historically, it has led the Atl Fed Wage Growth Tracker by ~9mo, which suggests further wage growth deceleration. Good for the inflation fight.

Some bull flattening going on in Treasury land after this morning's weak econ data (except JOLTS, still a lot of jobs open). 2-year yields down 5bps, 10-year yields down 10bps.

Oct ISM Manufacturing PMI came at 46.7, below all estimates. The Employment (46.8 vs est of 50.6) and New Orders (45.5 vs est of 49.8) components were big drivers of the decline. Cooling in demand coming through.
