The first 2 minutes of a case can make or break you. š§ Ask the right questions: 1ļøā£ Clarify the objective & timeline 2ļøā£ Probe with contextual & conceptual questions If you donāt know what to solve or why, youāll either boil the ocean or solve the wrong problem.
Many candidates think case interviews are a formal one-way street. Theyāre not. Theyāre professional conversations. Youāre allowed to (and - in fact - should) ask questions, clarify, and think aloud. The interview isnāt testing obedience. Itās testing collaboration.
Case math isnāt just about crunching numbers. š§® It evaluates 3 things: 1ļøā£ The right approach 2ļøā£ Calm, pragmatic execution 3ļøā£ Interpreting the result in context Most can calculate. Few can think like a consultant while doing it.
Did you know? š¤ Many candidates donāt fail MBB interviews for lack of problem solving or analytical skills. They fail because they treat them like exams instead of conversations. š£ļø
The one question every consulting interviewer asks: āWould I put this person in front of a client?ā š¤ Thatās what decides your offer. Professionalism = tone + presence. Think of it like dining out: itās not just food, itās also the service. š½ļø
Chart mastery in case interviews = 3 steps: š What you see (insights) š§ What it means (implications) ā”ļø What it drives (next steps) Nail this, and youāll sound like a consultant; not a student. š
Many candidates fail consulting interviews for one reason: They copy frameworks. Interviewers donāt want copycats. They want thinkers. š§ š„
