#OTD in 1932, folks including several HAALSA members set up equipment in Acton Vale, QC, to record a solar eclipse. Film footage is later spliced together with title cards added to describe the participants & preparations as well as the eclipse itself.
The result is available on the HAALSA website, in our Archives section (haalsa.org/archives/histo…). Enjoy + imagine your own soundtrack for this fascinating glimpse of an 89-yr-old astronomical event! (yes, we posted this #HistoricHAALSA note last year too but it's still cool)
@HamLitSciArt You'll have to post next year as well, to celebrate its 90th anniversary. 😃
@SurpriseHammer That did occur to us as we did the math! 😆 Second idea: Who d'you think we should speak to about re-creating the whole event for its 90th bday? Like, road trip, solar eclipse, the whole shebang..?
