Thank you @ShelleyBMayer for introducing legislation that would increase the unrestricted fund balance limit to 8% for five years. Schools need additional fiscal tools at their disposal to manage an influx of federal funds in a proper manner. legislation.nysenate.gov/pdf/bills/2021…

Per NYSDOH officials, Canadians traveling to NY for work and school and other essential services don’t need to quarantine. A big help for schools along northern border that have struggled with quarantine rules. Something similar needed if PA ends up on travel advisory list

Re-upping earlier issue. If PA is added next week I have no clue how schools along the southern tier with employees living in PA will be able to function. This has to be addressed if PA is going to be added

BAD news per Questar state aid planning. Excess aid payments and building aid payments coming in at 20% reduction and other statutory payments to be reduced by same percent. Other payments may not come at all. This hurts everyone but hurts poorer districts more

A plea to anyone who needs to hear it: have an ounce of humility before you launch into criticism of education leaders right now. I’ve worked in both K-12 & higher ed for 25 years. From a systems design & planning perspective I’ve never seen anything remotely this complex.

Good luck to all @NYSchoolSupts that try to complete school reopening plans by July 31 without having full guidance on July 15. This is the most challenging task veteran and rookie leaders have ever faced and I hope policy makers recognize the work leases have done last 4 months
