45 years ago today, Blair Peach, a schoolteacher and anti-racist campaigner, died as a result of being hit over the head by police. He, along with thousands of others, was demonstrating against the National Front in Southall. Rest in power.
'It's unfinished business because the killing of Blair Peach is still unresolved. We know a police officer killed him and he's still walking the streets of London.' — @SGroverSouthall of the Southall Youth Movement and @MonitoringGroup
@Taj_Ali1 @zarahsultana Hello Taj I watched Defiance on Sunday I was appalled by this and totally in awe of the young men and women who stood up to combat the right wing thugs, no support from the police. Solidarity to all. RIP Blair and Mr Khan and his family
@Taj_Ali1 2014: “…it might seem that things haven’t changed much. There have been many further deaths:… but there have been barely a dozen inquest verdicts of unlawful killing and just eight prosecutions, some of multiple officers – none succeeded.” lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v36/…
