Thanks to our DPS (Duck Protection Squad), Custodian Price Wright and Art Teacher Jennifer Hensley, we have a protective cage at the nest and a floating ramp to get out of the pond when the water is too low. Hopefully this will protect them from the neighborhood Red Tail Hawk

Great news! The ducklings have hatched! We have been lucky to have a Mallard pair come back to our “pond” each year and nest. The construction removed the original, natural pond but we do have something to replace it. Glad we are 9 ducklings-strong now! Mama is very protective!

What a great way to kick off Music in Schools month in SMSD! The HS Chamber Choirs are in concert AND clinic at the same time! Dr. Buchanan is helping choirs and choir directors get better at the craft. This is a great model for instructional leadership & instructional coaching!

The Crawford Art Gallery opened for its first exhibition of the school year tonight…honoring the legacy of Lancer Legend Chuck Crawford! He was on hand for the opening and seeing his former students’ art was a testament to his legacy at SME.
