Mark Zuckerberg on buying Instagram April 5, 2012
@TechEmails he stopped doing gut checks for the ml engineers poaching arc
@TechEmails 1bn for 13 pple and an unprofitable picture app turned out to be a homerun. 19bn for WhatsApp hard to understand
@TechEmails IG had to go to a well oiled machine like Facebook or it was doomed. I remember in the early days how often it would crash and go offline. Fast forward to today, while it’s great we have IG, the spirit of what it made it unique has been lost.
@TechEmails Oh the good old days when Zuck was still human
@TechEmails Last year, IG did $ 71B in revenue, what a steal.
@TechEmails I like how these all look like they’re in AOL instant messenger
@TechEmails Instagram and YouTube were absolutely robbed. I don’t blame the founders, but both would be well over $100B companies had they not sold out.
@TechEmails i had Insta before Zuck bought it. Strange thought. I think Zuckerberg saw Insta as a potential fb killer (which it is still today, sort of )
@TechEmails Buying Instagram was ‘way too much’, but so is four shots of tequila, and look how often that stops anyone.
@TechEmails Nothing looks like a reliable source like some random white boxes with text in them
@TechEmails Without instagram, Facebook is worth less than 1/5 what it is today
@TechEmails How did these emails get leaked? If they’re even real?
@TechEmails It was, in fact, not that much.
@TechEmails Jew asks Jew if spending money is too much.
