Fine wine or bad launch drivers...
@TechEpiphanyYT On the name of God give them a break……any % improvement is the most welcomed…….and i suspect there are more games to come!
@TechEpiphanyYT That's ironic given nvidia is STILL having driver issues since Blackwell launch 576.88 can't even run rust without crashing on alt-tab
@TechEpiphanyYT Not a chance... the amd launch drivers were one of the best amd made
@TechEpiphanyYT Depending on the game I guess. nMIDia also has bad launch drivers in Space Marine 2, for example. And in Delta Force RX 9070 XT is now even faster than RTX 5070 Ti
@TechEpiphanyYT hot take, I don't think its a big enough deal to say its bad launch drivers. the comparison goes from 116 to 126 fps, which while its a welcome improvement, it was stll perfectly good performance before the update. its not like Arc where a game goes from 7 fps to 100 fls
@TechEpiphanyYT Better than black screen driver
@TechEpiphanyYT Or making graphics drivers is hard?
@TechEpiphanyYT I don’t think bad launch driver since the number id already good, it just get even better.
@TechEpiphanyYT AMD always greatly improves drivers over time. 7900XTX launch driver to stable was nearly a 20% improvement... there were games where 7900XTX and 4090 get the same fps... problem is AMD cannot maintain the momentum on all products and needs a larger driver team.
@TechEpiphanyYT After using AMD since 2011 i can say that what ever AMD does is pointless when it comes to gpu's. RX400-500 series were the best they made by far.
@TechEpiphanyYT Nvidia had the bad launch drivers 6 months in still issues
@TechEpiphanyYT both, amd's fine wine has been a thing for ages can't ignore that
@TechEpiphanyYT assuming it was a poor driver, yet, far better than nVidia one.
@TechEpiphanyYT Or misinformation, il be re-testing it all the verify
@TechEpiphanyYT Define *bad* launch drivers; Say on a scale from Broken RTX 5080 to Competitive at the price point. Where are we at?
@TechEpiphanyYT They were competitive at launch with the competing product, and improved the product with software optimization. It happens.
@TechEpiphanyYT I doubt AMD employs as many people as NVIDIA to write the drivers and they compete on multiple fronts with less money.
@TechEpiphanyYT Nah, historically AMD has shown to improve performance over time, where Nvidia either stagnates or declines. This isn't a 'just one card' experience and would definitely say they all don't launch with underperformance drivers. Discounting driver overhead efficiency.
@TechEpiphanyYT Bad launch drivers = black screens, constant crashes. I wouldn't term Underperforming in 2-3 games as "bad" drivers.
@TechEpiphanyYT Bad drivers??? what are they? Nvidia?
@TechEpiphanyYT Bad launch, just like Nvidia had broken drivers.
@TechEpiphanyYT Bad launch drivers? They were mere 5% behind in overall performance including Raytracing, and full 3% ahead in pure raster, now the gap is much bigger. There is nothing bad about any of this.
@TechEpiphanyYT Judging by what we heard over the internet, they have been more stable than Nvidia, so I wouldn't call them bad. Better make them stable than more performant instantly...
@TechEpiphanyYT seems like when gamers praise devs for "fixing" a game. though, tbf, gpus seems like a really complex technology.
@TechEpiphanyYT I don't think I've ever heard of a good launch driver for RDNA... ever.
