I’d call Tesla the iPhone of vehicles, with BlackBerry representing legacy auto.

@TechOperator The automotive business of Tesla resembles Apple in both their good and bad characteristics, as do their customers. The market is enormous, with plenty of space for innovation and competition, so do expect automakers around the globe to gain ground on Tesla.
Don't rag on blackberries, they were a wonderful device for typing and sending/receiving work email. When I first had a blackberry that's all it did. Later it evolved to an android device with apps, etc. The iPhone has changed its color in the past 10 years. Every time it rains it's Steve Jobs crying in heaven.
@TechOperator BlackBerry was superior in form and function. It didn't have the "App Store" but everything can be done in the browser now. I lost a high quality device because of the App Store. The iPhone 17 will do nothing more than the iPhone X. Yeah camera quality slowly increases. Waow.
@TechOperator Blackberries more of a hybrid. Nokia and Motorola is legacy auto. Chinese EVs represent Android, while legacy auto weakly counters with the Microsoft Windows phone.
@TechOperator Fully vertically integrated like Apple. Exact comparison I’ve been making forever. Now if Tesla could just fix that nav bug to show local arrival time in the destination time zone, so I’d stop being an hour early/late that would be great! CarPlay does it right, come on Tesla! 😂
@TechOperator Yours is a better take….the Prius is the Blackberry….
@TechOperator It just goes to show that a college degree doesn’t make one intelligent
@TechOperator That’s what I always tell people. Like driving a phone with all the regular updates.
@TechOperator Love my Tesla, but I hate Apple with a passion.
Very flawed analysis in comparing Tesla to Blackberry. Blackberry had a successful product, saw the iPhone competition and decided their product was still the best. Tesla, thanks to Elon, has the self-disrupter mindset. Longer term the investment in lithium refining may not pay out if displaced by sodium. And Tesla keeps developing the lithium battery chemistry. They don't sound like Blackberry to me.
@TechOperator Closer to a rotary phone for depth of comparison but sure, that works.
@TechOperator With where Tesla wants to take vehicles, this analogy isn't horrible.
@TechOperator "Legacy auto" is a made up term.😅 Auto firms are at the forefront of technology/safety. Everyone makes an EV and many are superior to what Tesla offers. Tesla has acceleration and a really nice GUI on screen. The rest of it is still an assembly line American car like my Ford.🤷♂️
@TechOperator And the Chinese are Android, except you dont get to see how good they are.
@TechOperator I think Wayne would be a good analogy for the Blackberry with Tesla being the IPhone
@TechOperator Your giving legacy auto blackberry status? I feel that’s way too generous. More like 90s brick mobile phones to me. 😂
