For my commute, I leave home with a full and free charge daily. How do you top this setup with a gas powered car?
@TechOperator Agreed. Every day I drive by gas stations like.....
@TechOperator I only charge every 4-5 days as needed…at home, so easy, so cheap. I haven’t charged yet in sept.
@TechOperator I leave work fully charged:
@TechOperator Same. Never thought full charge every morning would be as big deal as it is
This how a robust, fault tolerant civilization is constructed. Distributed electricity production has no single point of failure and can support the grid with virtual power plants from batteries located in homes everywhere, if desired. And strictly from an individual's point of view, being immune to grid down scenarios, geopolitical interruptions, and market skullduggery is a tremendous blessing. I remember this: see pic. If it happened once...
@TechOperator I have an oil pump and refinery in my backyard. It was very expensive, but totally worth it.
@TechOperator One of the reasons I can never go back to gas cars ever again!
@TechOperator I have to drive 500 miles without stopping and if we race to the destination I will win with my ICE. So there. And filling up is just 2 minutes. And I also tow 30,000 pounds 4x a week and there are no chargers where I drive in jerkwater Montana.
@TechOperator If you put one of these on your Tesla charger, it converts it to gas. Cheat code for your ICE
@TechOperator Cool, but you’re car will spontaneously combust due to the extra topped off electons… 🤣
@TechOperator We can do better ... Starlink on every Tesla but the beams are 1000W! Then it can be charged using space based solar (24 hours a day) and have infinite range! And you get the internet included!
@TechOperator I love me 2018 Tesla model 3 and charge at my home bu it isn’t “free” I still get an electric bill. (It is “less” than it would be at a charging station )
@TechOperator You can’t top it. The issue is that until someone actually experiences this, they won’t have a clue on how much it makes their life better. They are so bombarded with misinformation anti-Tesla electric vehicle media that they’re scared into it.
I've thought about this and it's tempting, but I can't escape this rule, learned through many years of working on houses: every hole you put in your roof is a leak waiting to happen. Another concern is what happens when you need to reshingle or repair the roof. Seems like a lot of very expensive extra work. How has your experience with this been?
@TechOperator I had to fill up my motorcycle yesterday, idk how people do it…they just “don’t know”
@TechOperator The cost of home solar is still too damn high. 20 year amortization to just break even, for me. It’s preventing mass adoption.
