@TeganMathis He seemed to have an escort everywhere he went, at least by the summer of 1963: Peña’s bar in N.O. (Cubans!), the fight with Carlos Bringuier (Cubans!), the court hearing (Cubans!), traveling to see Silvia Odio (paramilitaries!), etc. For a lone nut, he never went far by himself.
