More accurately, the court applied LA law that an accrued liberative prescription (statute of limitations) is a property right that the legislature can’t retroactively eliminate bc due process. But I find it odd that a defense to a claim that might not occur is a property right.

This is generally true. I’m concerned that Israel’s response to Hamas is disproportionate—which concerns harm to civilians versus military advantage gained from an attack not whether the enemy deserves the response. But I’m not in a good position to determine military advantage.

Imo this is the inverse of how to do philosophy. Libertarianism is true only to the extent that it explains discrete justifications for government action. Those justifications are not legitimate (primarily) because they coherently exist with the meta framework of libertarianism.

there’s a chasm between “to keep and bear arms” “evolving” to apply to new technology (similar to 1A) and a term like “liberty” evolving to create rights that could have existed but expressly didn’t. Acting like that difference doesn’t even plausibly exist is obscene dishonesty.

I’m not quite sure how sanctuary states etc. will protect unborn children from states that permit killing them. But I’m open to a lesson from history.

Nah. The Federalists were right: The way you divide and structure the institutions of power (among its several purposes) is critical to preserving individual rights and property—probably even more than abstract discussions on the contours of those rights.

A version of this statement is made frequently. Some think it’s a clever retort. But by and large, it’s silly: I can’t think of a self-identifying American conservative who doesn’t desire to conserve some substantial portion of an ideology or institution that was once prominent.

We should not put American troops in harms way in Ukraine. But I have 0 judgment for Zelenskyy for asking. He's a man facing death and whose country is facing annihilation. I don't get the criticism of him for pleading for more help. But we have to make a sober judgment.
