A new🗺️from @TheStudyofWar and @criticalthreats depicts total liberated Ukrainian territory as of September 11, 2022. #Ukraine has liberated over 60,000 square km of territory since the Russians began retreating from around Kyiv in early April. Quick🧵below.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats Already outdated & very much an understated assessment (as to be expected, don't mean this negatively). If UKR can keep up the pressure, it's quite possible that 2014 borders will be reclaimed this year, possibly within a month. It's impossible to overstate this.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats Would love to see them take Crimea back.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats I think another key distinction between Kyiv and Kharkiv is the lack of time for Russians to boobytrap everything on their way out.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats That is almost an area the size of West Virginia or for our European friends, slightly less than the size of Latvia or Lithuania.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats This is fantastic! All of Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts are free of Russian control. As important, all rail lines from Belgorod and Voronezh are under Ukrainian control, depriving the Russian army of vital resupply by rail. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats I think now is time for a churchil quote "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning"
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats Anyone that has insight on the “reported partisan warfare” that shows up in the South on these maps? 🇺🇦💪🏼
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats This map tells the story of Ukrainian forces valour, skills, fortitude, and defiance in the face of the (once) mighty Russian armies.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats I also don't exactly remember tons of abandoned vehicles and hundreds of POWs back in April.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats Great to finally see also the previously-freed areas included, it does changes the perception!
@TheStudyofWar @markos @criticalthreats Putin is absolutely gonna freak when they go into Crimea. he will of course threaten nuclear, but according to my amateur psychology, might actually do it over Crimea!
@TheStudyofWar @oxXAndreXxo @criticalthreats It makes me sad when war is glorified and people die every day. No one talks about peace anymore. 😢
@TheStudyofWar @PamKeithFL @criticalthreats HAHAHAAAAAA! Ukraine should take this battle all the way to Moscow!!
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats #Ukraina #Ukrainian #Ukraine️ #SlavaUkraini #ICYMI #Russia #Russiaisateroriststate #RussiaIsATerroristState #RussianLosses
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats Next: Kherson, rest of Donbas, rest of South, then Crimea...
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats I keep looking and looking at this map.. just pure joy
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats 23k miles.. awesome 👍 💙💛💙
@TheStudyofWar @drchrisnewton @criticalthreats Interesting - the number of falsehoods added to Kharkov successes.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats Incroyable! 💙💛💙💛
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats Need some comments about what might happen when the ground freezes on the battlefield in a few months
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats 60,000 square kilometers is slightly bigger than the state of Indiana.
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats red is getting smaller and smaller
@TheStudyofWar @criticalthreats I like that blue color. More of this please.
@TheStudyofWar @RealCynicalFox @criticalthreats Russia now 0-2 in offensives. Three strikes and you’re out.
