Nearly 9 months after it opened, I finally got back around to Disneyland and check out Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. In short: Technically impressive, but it tries so hard to be "disruptive" that it breaks a lot of what makes theme park design work. PHOTOS: flickr.com/photos/rollerc…

Quick review: While it lacks the extreme edge or show-stopping "wow" moments of Full Throttle & Twisted Colossus, West Coast Racers makes up for it by being a well-rounded family thrill ride that feels more complete and satisfactory by the end of the ride. Plus guaranteed racing!

@ThemingThoughts There's some precedence for that in ACE's coaster preservation efforts, but no the scale of the enthusiast community isn't nearly enough to support a new build modern coaster. Maybe a couple hundred thousand for a beloved endangered coaster's preservation.

@ThemingThoughts I don't even care about the whole superhero genre.... and think Spiderman is spectacular...the bar has been set so high I really don't see Disney topping it.

Disney's Spiderman won't be better than Universal's. Forget objectivity, but nostalgia and favour of a certain attraction style amongst theme park fans is going to prevent it from reaching the same acclaim felt 20 years prior.

It appears the cutbacks are already in place - now it seems to only require 1 staff member. That is more sensible, but the experience definitely suffers a tad. Guests need cues to halt or progress through scenes and those cues were originally given by staff guides.

To those who think Candymonium is a GOOD name (liking it is not the same as thinking is it good) - put yourself in the the average guest's shoes hearing that name or seeing it on the map. It screams "kiddy ride". It's an odd choice.
