Remember, the next time an objector points out an “empty bike-lane,” tell them it’s because they’re efficient. This stretch in #Copenhagen conveys 8 times as many people on bikes compared to cars - but it's mostly jammed cars that we see. HT @anderspreben
Paris is in the middle of a plan to transform into a 100% cycling city. They are also poised to introduce “pedestrian hearts” in each district, inspired by Barcelona’s superblocks, reserving areas for pedestrians, cyclists & public transport. @MomentumMagmomentummag.com/paris-to-showc…
Great to see such a well planted #communitygarden in the quiet town of #PeakHill, #NSW.
The new community garden has converted land in to the middle of town to public space, open to the public to browse (and pick).

It would be absurd to plan a forest from the top down, separating the plants from the animal habitats, strictly regulating the size of trees, and mandating empty spaces between them. Could such a 'forest' possibly thrive?
This is what we've done to our cities.

The Netherlands shouldn’t have a monopoly on inspiring urban transformations. Pushing back on car supremacy shouldn’t depend on topography, climate, or culture.
25 cities (in 15 countries and 4 continents) we visited this year that are making radical changes to their streets. 🧵
Almost all of our #trafficlights have radars or detectors to detect incoming #cycling and #walking traffic, and to give them the green light faster. Again, it's one more small thing to make cycling & walking more attractive options in your daily life. #MeanwhileInOulu#Oulu 🇫🇮
Road deaths in Australia have increased 4.5%.
(12 months to Sept this year over the previous 12 months)
South Australia saw road deaths jump 28.4% !!
Cycling deaths up 30.3%, pedestrian deaths 11.3%.

Some good ideas for Australian governments:
- "prioritize safety over speed and the efficient movement of vehicles"
- "rethink ... vehicle and pedestrian infrastructure "
- "new policies, like vehicle weight taxes"
