‘Normalcy’ is a cloak that some wear well, and indifference can be a deeply unsettling thing. It suits Sanjay Korpal, who is himself a deeply unsettling man. Akande knows it well. He can read it from across the Council table - Korpal is simmering about something.

Extricating Talon from Vialli’s weeds is an ongoing endeavor. Many years of many minds to change. Blunt force, or a long fall, are effective tools. And in situations in which tact is a necessity, the scalpel is polished with fear. Bars do not blind one to betrayal, evidently.

The tailored coat is pulled taut over broad shoulders. It lends a certain stiffness to an otherwise upright head-of-table. Empty seats serve their purpose. Knuckles drum against the wood.
