@MarkBlenner @TimSDobbs Agencies like spending $ on foundries because the photos look cool. Split that $ across 100 labs and you will absolutely get more done, but no cool photos. So 😬. Let’s push for distributed foundries to get the best of both worlds :)

@TimSDobbs @thuronyi Here's a good chinese reseller that keeps prices low bc direct manufacturing relations. Lots of similar outfitd on Ali Baba and many on the easier Ali Express. We need procurement re-education, esp when buying the literal same product as OEM. joanlab.com

@ATinyGreenCell @TimSDobbs But I feel like you don't value your own time and energy as a cost input here, maybe because of your personal truly bananas attitude toward and motivation around science. I would argue that even reagent/supply-cheap data is often expensive

@TimSDobbs I clicked False and you asked why so: We can now collect 1000s of datapoints for less $ than a grad student stipend. But certainly not all datasets are equally useful or impactful. It’s important to design those experiments tailored to the Q at hand. Random exps are wasteful.
