Had to take someone to a public hospital. Guys, our public health system is collapsing. What I saw is scary.
Apparently they cannot admit you say Charlotte Maxeka Hospital of you live in the North. You need to go to Helen Joseph's. The person I'm with can't even walk and they turned us away
Moving from hospital to the next. So much lines. No service at all. We are going to die in this country!
@Tokyo_Trev Yet millions of unknown persons with no known addresses are admitted all over South Africa. What a joke of a country.
@Tokyo_Trev The funny thing is if an illegal immigrant went there, He/she would get help no questions asked. I don't understand that system
@Tokyo_Trev This is one of the many silly rules we have in health care Happened to my friend during covid where he had to go to another hospital because it wasn’t the one for his zone
@Tokyo_Trev That law only applies for south Africans, illegal foreigners always get preferential treatment from hospitals. Those lot don't even need to provide their addresses. Our government is failing its citizens
@Tokyo_Trev Thats whats gonna happen with NHI or at least whats on the cards. Down is where we are heading as a country 😫😫
@Tokyo_Trev How does this translate to a collapsing health system?
@Tokyo_Trev This is exactly how NHI will work. But somehow people out there are endorsing it because they think they’ll be able to walk into ANY hospital not knowing it’ll actually be harder to access hospitals even in your designated area.
@Tokyo_Trev Even clinics you have to lie about your address to get medical attention!
@Tokyo_Trev Happens everywhere. If you not from the area they turn you back. Happened to my pregnant girlfriend this one time.
