I honestly hate tipping. I do it, but I hate it. We let restaurants burden us with their exploitative labour
@Tokyo_Trev One day I just decided Iāll tip according to the service, food and overall experience. I stopped tipping like Iām obligated to
@Tokyo_Trev Restaurants should give incentives for the best waiters and have us give ratings
@Tokyo_Trev I hate the fact that it has become an expectation
@Tokyo_Trev Especially because the food aint cheap. Restaurants should be forced to pay their waiters better
@Tokyo_Trev They'd need to increase their prices to pay fairly. Would we pay it?
@Tokyo_Trev They'd need to increase their prices to pay fairly. Would we pay it?
@Tokyo_Trev And if you tip ngemali encane you see disappointment in their eyes. Kudlalwa ngathi eyy sonke sixakekile but we also want to experience nice things.
@Tokyo_Trev I live in a predominantly afrikaner community. Iāve noticed that tipping is not big in the local restaurants. The bartenders/waiters often seem genuinely surprised when you tip. Which makes me wonder, are they paid well enough or itās just not a thing for them.
@Tokyo_Trev hate being forced to tip, i want to do it voluntarily and if i canāt (do it voluntarily), wouldāve been somewhat palatable if they didnāt budget for the salaries with it. my problem is these tips becoming the standard wage instead of top up. theyāre exploiting us plus the waiters
@Tokyo_Trev I've defeated the system whenever I'm out at some restaurant regular or fancy I simply pay the exact price on the slip I always have cash on the side I pull a waiter on the side and slide a young 300rands on her pockets and tell her to shush š¤«
@Tokyo_Trev We should never reach America's tipping culture. Even they are tired of it now.. they've gaslit eachother with generousity until it became an expectation.
@Tokyo_Trev They getting paid a salary you donāt have to
@Tokyo_Trev We need to start writing R0 on that tipping section just for their attitude when the tip is low. š
@Tokyo_Trev Other day the waitor doubted that Iād tipped 10%, with a disappointed look, she took out her phone, did the math and after discovering it was in fact 12% she gave me the machine and didnt even say thank you because to her this tip was too little - even though it was the std >10%
@Tokyo_Trev Nna I tip accordingly to your attitudeā¦if you show kindness then Iāll definitely tip otherwise you aināt getting nothing from me
@Tokyo_Trev The worst is when the bill comes with a 10% tip calculated already. Like???
@Tokyo_Trev Honestly. Weāre enabling them to do worse even.
@Tokyo_Trev Same as food/grocery delivery..I already paid a delivery fee but Iām still expected to tip the driver on top of that.
@Tokyo_Trev In all honesty.. we should only be tipping chefs and strippers
@Tokyo_Trev This time, a waiter asked if I wanted to tip him, can it be a cash, because the management owed them months for their tips. It was too much information for me.
@Tokyo_Trev My friend and I tipped this lady out of the goodness of our hearts at Tang, she was new and knew nothing about the menu, she kept calling another waiter to answer our questions. When we were leaving we overheard her telling another waitress that we tipped her "R50 QHA!"
@Tokyo_Trev This is not true. Restaurants run on wafer thin margins, often running at a loss. Tips guarantee worker's compensation without making them an overhead. If you can't afford to tip properly, you can't afford to eat out. Simple.
@Tokyo_Trev I hate tipping but do it anyway, and especially hate it when the very same waiter can't even thank me after paying.
@Tokyo_Trev Looking at this post, last night I was at Mozambik Eastgate, and the waitress asked if I would tip her because I just wanted drinks and didn't want to eat. Mind you, I was making time for iMama since she was shopping. Restaurants should pay their people (and pay well)
@Tokyo_Trev Same but i just feel if you can afford give them cash so they can help their families
@Tokyo_Trev From "customer must be happy" to "waiter must be happy at customer's cost"
@Tokyo_Trev I was out chowing my last cents and I didnāt tip cause I honestly didnāt have money for it, did the waitress not ask me why am I not tipping š„²
@Tokyo_Trev My chat.. because why do I have to pay someone for doing their Job?
@Tokyo_Trev They don't force you. You do it when you want to. As a thank you for serving me. It's their job i know but you not forced
@Tokyo_Trev Then you get restaurants that add the 10/20% tip to your bill š„ŗ
@Tokyo_Trev You are just a pathetic human being!! But here is a tip, on your next dining encounter, go to the restaurant, but before u order, tell your waiter u wont tip and see how your experience turns out!!
@Tokyo_Trev Ngabe bayanya kimi. I came for food. A tip is always gonna be optional. If I donāt feel like it then i wonāt.
@Tokyo_Trev Yoh the ones at Newscafe will tell you to tip 10% of your bill. Itās a must
@Tokyo_Trev If u don't want to tip stay home most of those places the waiters don't get the tip especially when it's on card
@Tokyo_Trev And some of the places have the tip automatically added haibo!!!
