I honestly hate tipping. I do it, but I hate it. We let restaurants burden us with their exploitative labour

@Tokyo_Trev I live in a predominantly afrikaner community. I’ve noticed that tipping is not big in the local restaurants. The bartenders/waiters often seem genuinely surprised when you tip. Which makes me wonder, are they paid well enough or it’s just not a thing for them.

@Tokyo_Trev hate being forced to tip, i want to do it voluntarily and if i can’t (do it voluntarily), would’ve been somewhat palatable if they didn’t budget for the salaries with it. my problem is these tips becoming the standard wage instead of top up. they’re exploiting us plus the waiters

@Tokyo_Trev I've defeated the system whenever I'm out at some restaurant regular or fancy I simply pay the exact price on the slip I always have cash on the side I pull a waiter on the side and slide a young 300rands on her pockets and tell her to shush 🤫

@Tokyo_Trev This is not true. Restaurants run on wafer thin margins, often running at a loss. Tips guarantee worker's compensation without making them an overhead. If you can't afford to tip properly, you can't afford to eat out. Simple.
