We performed single-cell RNAseq on these ensembles, revealed that while they share similar cell types, the differential gene expression (DGE) among them are enriched in human GWAS hits for psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. 6/n
Next, we employed activity-dependent labelling with FOSTRAP2 mice, confirming the flexibility of these ensembles. Subsequently, leveraging optogenetics, we elucidated the behavioural impacts associated with these ensembles, revealing their specific influence on behaviours. 5/n
This allowed us to categorize neurons into distinct ensembles. With longitudinal registration, we showed neurons are overlapped between ensembles. Notably, while neurons are flexible in their encodings, those encoding negative experiences displayed greater stability. 4/n
We then implemented CEBRA (nature.com/articles/s4158…), which jointly uses both behavioural and neural data to obtain embeddings to identify the behavioural cues shaping neural activity. 3/n
We investigate how neurons in the extended amygdala (IPACL region) process and integrate multiple behavioural stimuli. We performed calcium imaging in IPACL of freely moving animals, we subjected them to six distinct contexts. 2/n
