You cut winners like they're poison and hold losers like they're gold. Standard human psychology has it backwards. Ideally pain should leave fast and profit should stay long.
@Trader_Theory If someone can read his emotion and do exactly the opposite it s in itself a profitable strategy.
Most traders invert the rule: hold hope, dump reality. Flip it—pain out fast, profit in for the long run. I’ve learned to protect my capital at all costs.. once I go to 1:1rrr I put my stops at BE. It feels so good protecting your capital, especially when you remember the pain of losing it all tens of times.
@Trader_Theory Most people chase comfort, not growth that’s why they lose. Evolve your instincts: let go of what drains, hold tight to what compounds. That’s how you flip the script
@Trader_Theory Exactly. The hardest part is rewiring our psychology letting go of losses quickly and giving profits the time to grow. That’s where consistency is built
@Trader_Theory If you would do it just the opposite way, you would made it already in trading.
@Trader_Theory cutting winner holding losers this isn't self love it's self destruction
@Trader_Theory Exactly. I had to retrain my instincts, letting winners run and cutting losers fast is counterintuitive, but it’s the only way to survive and grow.
You're letting fear manage your winners and hope manage your losers. This is the exact inverse of a professional's mindset. Your job isn't to eliminate fear and hope. It's to aim them at the correct targets. Be fearful of what can truly hurt you—a large loss. Be hopeful in your proven process—a winning trade.
@Trader_Theory so true, our brains are wired to do the opposite, cut profits early and hold losses hoping they'll bounce back 🤦♂️
@Trader_Theory This is the hardest, most painful, and most important lesson to learn in trading. Let your winners run, and cut your losers fast. It's simple to say, but goes against every human instinct.
@Trader_Theory You're spot-on, standard human psychology often screws up investing. People cling to losing stocks hoping for a rebound, while quickly selling winners to lock in gains, driven by fear and greed.
@Trader_Theory Human nature clings to failures and fears losing profits, defy this with discipline. Let losses go swiftly to limit damage and hold winners patiently to maximize gains.
@Trader_Theory The chart shows your psychology whether you admit it or not.
@Trader_Theory That’s real. Most people cling to what drains them and push away what could build them. Wisdom is learning to flip that let go of pain quick, and hold on to the things that multiply your life.
@Trader_Theory Yes, people are hopeful in a losing position, hoping price will turn around and go in their favor. And people are scared in a winning trade, fearing their profit will disappear. The trick is to flip it around. Be hopeful in a winning trade and scale in. Cut losers fast.
@Trader_Theory Holding onto losers and cutting winners is a symptom of a state of fear.
@Trader_Theory Try to set automatic sell orders for profits and force yourself to cut losses quickly.
@Trader_Theory Exactly. Most flip the script.....chasing comfort, clinging to pain. Real growth is holding onto what compounds and cutting what bleeds.
It’s funny how natural instincts work against us in trading. The urge to protect a small gain feels rewarding in the moment, but it stops growth. On the other side, holding losers is often just hoping the market proves us right. Flipping that script, letting profit breathe and cutting losses quickly, is usually where the shift happens.
@Trader_Theory Most traders sabotage themselves because they fight to avoid pain instead of chasing growth. Winners need space, losers need to go quickly. It’s simple, but not easy.
@Trader_Theory Cutting winners too soon limits real gains
@Trader_Theory Flip it and everything changes, cut the pain quick, let the profit breathe.
@Trader_Theory This back-ass mentality seems to be written in stone for newbies to trading. Mark Douglas' "Trading in the Zone" etc. can make the difference, IMO . . . .
@Trader_Theory In this situation fear is controlling the mind. In the parallel situation greed might take over. I think a balance is needed and emotions should be checked and reliance on a backtested system.
@Trader_Theory When we are in a losing position we have hope that the market will turn in our favor, while when we are winning we are afraid the market will turn against us. Do the reverse and you will thank me later
@Trader_Theory This only happens when there's is no plan and all you have are wild emotions

@Trader_Theory sounds simple but , why it's really hard ? according to you?
@Trader_Theory This is the trader’s curse. Most people are wired to run from pain and grab comfort so they cut winners early to feel safe, and hold losers hoping to feel “right.” Flip that wiring. Let pain exit fast. Let profit breathe. That’s how professionals stay profitable.
