You cannot be acquitted if you don’t have a trial. You don’t have a trial if you don’t have witnesses and documentation. If Republican Senators choose a cover-up, the American people and history will judge it with the harshness it deserves.

Is John Roberts just going to shuffle papers during this farce? He is the presiding authority and the Chief Justice. He must call and subpoena the witnesses necessary to make this the real trial that justice demands, not this GOP sideshow.

Given yesterday’s arguments by Trump’s lawyers, it’s now clear they believe presidential lawlessness is not impeachable, is appropriate & is actually in the public interest. If McConnell orchestrates a “no witnesses” vote it will prove he has concluded that lawlessness works.
