Maybe it's all moot. I can't trust him, or me, or anyone else, it seems. I'm so alone I'm even without MYSELF.
Using someone else's response as your barometer is a hopelessly flawed system if that someone has been emotionally abusing you for 4 years.
But what if you have a spouse who you can't do *anything* with, without horrendous judgment? How can you oriented yourself then?
I know a good rule of thumb is, if you're doing something that you wouldn't do if your spouse were standing right there, it's cheating.

It's the 16th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. I'm having a moment's silence over my keyboard. I hated killing some of those people.
I get exhausted trying to bear the burden of emotional stability for the both of us. I can't make anyone be happy, I know.
The truth is, what I wanted was a relationship where my partner would face difficulty with strength and resilience, not complaint.
It's so easy to blame being emotionally exhausted on circumstances, and saying stress in relationships will improve when circumstances do...
