Molly & her Dad minutes after birth. It was another 10 months before we found out she had a life threatening heart condition - that needed surgery in the first year of life. We were fortunate Molly was able to have surgery weeks after diagnosis. justgiving.com/page/mollys-mi…

We understand that 7 other babies in our region were missed just like Molly for the 2020/23 period which spanned Molly’s pregnancy and birth. The PPD detection rate in our region for Molly’s heart condition stood at just 27.3% - significantly below the national average. @YHCHDN

Currently our figures suggest; 11 trusts retain images and clips 55 trusts retain images only 48 trusts don't retain anything 2 trusts retain the situs view only. 2 trusts have hospital sites retaining and not retaining views. #CHD #pregnancy #congenitalheartdefect

Data storage costs have been suggested as a reason trusts can't retain views. Patients are also prevented from filming their own scans on their phones, not because it interferes with equipment, but because sonographers would be distracted and sonographer privacy compromised🤷‍♂️😳🙃

56% of trusts retaining fetal cardiac views at the 20 week scan is significant. “The standard of care provided by a competent ultrasound practitioner is that which the majority of similar individuals would provide" (Society of Radiographers).

62 trusts have advised they retain fetal cardiac views, 48 trusts have advised they don’t. 2 trusts have advised they have hospitals that do both. 10 trusts are yet to respond to our FOI's 3 months later. Currently, we figure that’s 56% of trusts that retain and 44% that don’t.

Video clips are considered the gold standard in obstetric ultrasound imaging. If hospitals can't do this, families should be allowed to record their own scans. SoR's reasons for discouraging this just don't stack up.

13 scans in pregnancy. 96 images saved during 12 scans of these scans. Images not saved only at the 22 week repeat anomaly scan. Peculiar. change.org/Mollys_Missing…
