For $42 billion they could have bought Starlink dishes for 140 million people (US population is 333 million)
@WholeMarsBlog Wow, that’s crazy! Surely some people should lose their jobs over this? If wasting billions isn’t enough, what *does* it take!?
Every single transaction related to Biden’s high speed internet plan should be fully audited and disclosed to the public. I smell corruption during the first two years of this program (planning and preparation) and apparently zero ditch digging or actual building. My guess is a bunch of DEI and other consultants were paid, just their Democrat cousin project, California high speed rail. We need a a fucking post mortem analysis. These rural communities NEED high speed internet. This problem could have been fully solved last year if Starlink had been used/purchased with the funds. Everyone involved with this program should be fired and banned from ever working for the government again. Countless rural communities are suffering because of Biden’s stupid fucking plan.
Incorrect. The capacity of the Starlink satellites would not support 140 million users. 140 million people would have antennas that did not work. Doing the calculations: Starlink has a mixture of v1 and v2 mini satellites. The newer V2 Mini satellites provide 80 Gbps, while earlier V1.x satellites offer around 20 Gbps. Given a mix, let's assume an average capacity of 50 Gbps per satellites. The current constellation is 4000 satellites giving a most optimitic capacity of 64 Exabytes per month. BUT the satellites are only over the USA 1/8 of the time so the capacity of Starlink is 8.1 Exabytes per month ie. 1/10th of the USA demand. Also the US demand is growing by 8-17% per annum (depending on your source) so it is an ever expanding problem. Conclusion: Starlink is a great solution for fill in coverage but it is not big enough to cover the base load.
@WholeMarsBlog So basically they could have bought a dish for every single home in America (144 million homes in the U.S.)
Stuck in red tape......that is government speak for laundering that money to pay for other things like the illegals crossing the border. Take a look at the situation in Idaho. Farmers are not getting enough water now. Why you ask? It's going to the cobalt mining in the area. Now ask yourself: how many members of Congress have a financial interest in that mine?
@WholeMarsBlog Their only purpose is to put money into their own pockets. Prove me wrong! 😁😁😁
@WholeMarsBlog Government is the worst at solving problems. On the flip side they are exceptionally good at spending money. Reminder: it’s not their money.
@WholeMarsBlog @EWErickson This seems to be a theme with this administration
Such a sad waste of taxpayer money. The goal of the program is to give internet to 8.5 million Americans. With Starlink they could have given all those people internet at a reduced rate of $30/mo for 6.5 years. For qualifying households it would be free, as they get a $30/mo reduction.
@WholeMarsBlog Community notes are helpful here. No money has been spent yet. 🤷
@WholeMarsBlog Why am I not surprised??! Meanwhile Pelosi .. she’s making great gains with insider trading. This is atrocious.
@WholeMarsBlog 🤯 this really puts into perspective the waste that exists in our government. Remind me why we give them our money?
@WholeMarsBlog But at least their multi-billion dollar EV charging station funding accomplished something, right?
@WholeMarsBlog Where did the money go? Where's the audit?

@WholeMarsBlog But then none of Joe Biden’s cronies would get to wet their beaks.
@WholeMarsBlog Our neighborhood got Fiber Internet installed after this bill was passed We already had fiber, but a second company put a 2nd set of lines in. Their pricing is more expensive so nobody uses them Goverment spending at its finest
@WholeMarsBlog Exactly, but this is part of the Biden govts revenge and backlash on Elon and his companies ...
@WholeMarsBlog I wonder why we are seeing only a screenshot of the headline but not a link to the full article… 🤔
@WholeMarsBlog Was it the work of an inefficient clown government or was the money just outright stolen by the Biden administration?
@WholeMarsBlog What is the point of this when Starlink is readily available?!
@WholeMarsBlog Seems like fake news. I know lots of people it got online.
@WholeMarsBlog The electric vehicle chargers holding them up!!
