طالبان واژه «شهید» را از دروازه ورودی آرامگاه عبدالعلی مزاری در بلخ پاک کردند عبدالعلی مزاری در سال ۱۳۷۳ از سوی طالبان کشته شد و بعد جسد وی از چرخبال در ولایت غزنی به بیرون پرتاب شد.
