Diff b/w ML algorithms and models: Algorithms are procedures that are implemented in code and are run on data. Models are output by algorithms and are comprised of model data and a prediction algorithm.

The rationale behind factor analysis is that there're deeper factors driving the underlying concepts in your data, and that you can uncover and work with these instead of dealing with the lower-level variables that cascade from them.
