So by a mixture of luck and well...just asking, I'm now doing my regular job and working with the iOS Team at my company as a Junior iOS Developer part time. I'm still not quite there yet but i've learnt so much from the senior devs and collaborating on Github. #ios #swift

Ruby is a great language for beginners I find. It can do so much and has excellent readability. Though VS code really likes to complain about indentations a LOT. Even Xcode isn’t that strict as an IDE! #webdevelopment #Ruby #iOS

The LinkedIn grind is real. Job applications, trying to make connections…on top of this I’m learning HTML and of course SwiftUI. Gotta keep at it.

Got a lot to do in 2023 but my number one goal of getting my first iOS dev role, is really proving to be an absolute mountain of a goal. Will have to keep applying and networking.

I was thinking about adding a way to export my core data into a csv format so you can open it in Numbers or Excel and found a solution! Was messy at first but a little fine tuning and it works! Also learnt a little more about AVFoundation and put a demo video in my app. #iOS

Seems as if there’s a few more openings for SwiftUI jobs in the U.K. but…not many asking for UIKit experience specifically. The job hunt continues. More coding challenges to grind. 🥲

Went to my first ever in person iOS meetup @NSLondonMeetup for the first time and met some cool people and listened to some really interesting talks covering iOS 16, Using ARKit to map out routes and using iOS to fight climate change. Thanks @DentReality for your talk!

Company downsized today and I was one of the expendables since my wife is at the start of a new cancer treatment her life literally depends on medical insurance if you need an iOS developer with >3 years experience DM me I have many ex-coworkers who are willing to chat

As I felt I was missing some fundamental deeper knowledge of Swift, I went back to Apple’s AP Computer Science principles book and let me tell you, that’s a solid book to start for any beginners in Swift and it is doubly better if learning in pairs or more!

For those that work with multiple Apple developer accounts, how do you guys deal with 2FA for clients accounts? Where I work there’s been a temporary solution we have but is there any really good solutions you may have found? #ios #softwaredeveloper

Been reading up on Script Editor for work as it would be great to automate some of the more mundane tasks. Had absolutely no idea how deep it can get!Also got me interested in MacOS for the future.

So recently I got a new job working on distribution of apps for a large startup and I’ve learnt some things. Like…generating tokens in fastlane, App Store IDs, 2FA, App Group IDs…didn’t even know how many extra steps there are to upload to the AppStore compared to doing it solo

I haven’t had much time recently to code but I made my first open source contribution in my spare time and changed a company’s iOS logo from a standard Flutter one to the company specific one. Minor contribution but it’s great to collaborate when you can. First ever PR merged!

Still grinding out coding challenges these days. Honestly it’s demotivating when you fail them constantly. Then sometimes the solutions are so unbelievably simple that it’s just overthinking it. Little advice for anyone taking them on; know the Swift standard library well!

Have a new project idea that has a lot of moving parts. MapKit, Core Location, Firebase…so trying not to overwhelm myself with it all….while looking for a job and trying to exercise and other life admin... Really could do with a Time Stone right about now. 😂

Thank the Swift gods for creating CodingKeys…I was tearing my non existent hair out trying to parse JSON from an API. Also a stark reminder to use do try catch blocks so you’re not screaming at your computer about what’s wrong 😂
