We start the new work week by picking back up right where we left off last week with mostly clear skies and comfortable morning temperatures. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies warm those temperatures back up into the middle 80s later this afternoon.

Sunny to mostly sunny skies return and highs warm into the upper 80s and lower 90s later this afternoon, and we're finally looking at a rain-free night of Friday Night Football! Small rain chances return to the region Saturday afternoon, then again on Monday.

That disturbance we've been tracking across the tropical Atlantic over the last few days is finally starting to show some better organization this morning. We'll likely have a tropical depression, then Tropical Storm Gabrielle sometime late this week or this weekend.

Sunny to mostly sunny skies are back for yet another morning, but it's not quite as cool or pleasant as the previous few mornings have been. Temperatures aren't the only thing on the increase late this week. Expect to feel a little bit more humidity out there as well.

A fairly sizeable warm up is on the way for us especially by this weekend as highs climb into the middle 90s. Slightly better rain chances appear to be on the way for early next week. That could help pull those temperatures back into the 80s by Tuesday.

A disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms in the eastern tropical Atlantic is expected to become more organized over the next couple of days, then likely become our next tropical depression by the weekend. Future impacts to the United States currently looks unlikely.

After our third consecutive record cool morning, temperatures are quickly warming up with lots of blue skies and sunshine over much of the region. A few small, scattered clouds mix in with that sunshine later this afternoon with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Make that three consecutive mornings! Temperatures have already fallen to 64° in Dothan early this morning. That will break the record low of 66° that was last set in 2010. We'll start moving further away from record values over the next several days as warmer air moves in.

Rain continues to look very few and very far between for us for the rest of the week. A few stray showers are possible through the weekend and into the following Monday, but overall rainfall totals are not looking very optimistic.

It's been a record-setting start to the new work week with record lows being broken on consecutive mornings in Dothan. Mostly sunny skies have warmed temperatures into the middle and upper 70s for now. We're headed for the middle to upper 80s later this afternoon.

It is becoming increasingly likely that we'll see our next tropical system develop from this disturbance south of the Cape Verde Islands over the next few days. We'll likely see this become a tropical depression later this week or into the weekend.

We're back down in record territory to start the new week. Yesterday's low of 65° broke the previous record low of 67° in 2010. We're currently within a degree of tying the record low of 63° this morning. That was last reached in 1968.

A disturbance south of the Cape Verde Islands likely won't organize into much over the next couple of days, but it enters a much more favorable environment for development as it continues to move west-northwest through the second half of the week. Gabrielle is next on the list.

Any sort of rain stays very few and very far between for much of this week. We should be staying dry with rain chances topping out at maybe 10%. Those drier conditions help to usher some summer heat back into the region especially by the end of the week.

If you're headed down to the Gulf Coast for Labor Day, expect a breezy day at times with mostly sunny skies and highs in the middle to upper 80s. Those breezy conditions will create some choppy waves. Pay attention to beach flags and watch out for rip currents!

Our Labor Day weekend got off to a wet start, but Labor Day itself is off to a fantastic start with plenty of sunshine and temperatures warming into the 70s. It'll be a perfect day to be outside with sunny to mostly sunny skies and highs warming into the middle 80s.

How about an all football forecast? Mostly cloudy and humid conditions continue for those local high school games tonight. Some places may still see a little light rain. A few showers and storms will also be possible for those regional college football games on Saturday.

A couple of rounds of rain are on the way for us over the next couple of days as humidity increases once again. The Friday round is mostly rain while Saturday could feature a few embedded thunderstorms. Rainfall totals will generally be between 0.50" and 1.50".
