Congrats to my PhD student, @kat_m_lane, for receiving the UCF Graduate Dean Dissertation Completion Fellowship! Kat is one of two anthro students that were awarded the fellowship by the university and one of four nominations by our college. I’m definitely a proud advisor!!

That was the most painful thing to watch. The amount of racial essentialism, lies, and coded eugenic language coming from Trump. And I wouldn't mind if a sneak new candidate came in for Biden.

For the second year in a row, the course I’m teaching on race and racism has been cancelled three weeks before the start of the semester. While it’s due to not meeting a minimum for enrollment, it just contributes to the constant attack on these issues in Florida.

Today was a joy of being called “an abomination for being a dude in a dress.” Which was simply rude. I am not a dude, it was a skirt, and it was a beautiful rosy pink color. It deserved more respect.
