I'm reading compelling The Day I Die by @AnitaHannig. Tenderly & straightforwardly written it captures lived experience of dying & #MAID in the US. Little details like what do you do when with a group of family at a loved one's end (do you bring sandwiches?) really bring it home

The Oregon-based law that we campaign for is very prescriptive. It would only be available to dying people. The number who actually use it is very small, and have remained so in Oregon. Your fears are unfounded

Over 60% of members do not want the BMA to oppose assisted dying, hence a neutral position was adopted in 2021. To reverse this would be to force a minority view on the majority; is the UK to go down the Roe v Wade route? @BMA @BMA_JuniorDocs @BMA_Academics @BMAScotland @BMA_GP

When death is inevitable, suffering should not be. Dying people deserve the choice to control the manner of their death. Parliament will debate our #AssistedDying petition on 4 July. There is still time to sign the petition to make your voice heard by MPs. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6043…

@dignityindying @thetimes Maybe the church leaders should come and see my loving 93 year old mother with cancer for 2 years and has now infected her spine. Paralysed from waist down. She has asked to go to sleep. Why won’t you support this. Do you like people to suffer?
