A great example of the difference between possessing a supposed capacity and actually being able to operate it. Was assumed by many that the Russians had great electronic war capabilities. Turned out that they can’t use their systems for lots of reasons. rferl.org/a/communicatio…

As things kick off in Ukraine be suspicious & check everything before sharing. There will be lots of rubbish on social media soon - both malicious, and worse, ill informed junk by people desperate for clout. Don’t make things worse by trying to be first & chasing followers/likes.

First read this book in ‘88 in Sennelager in between moving markers round the map board at CAST. A bit of an eye-opener for a v young subaltern. I know it’s fiction. I know it’s 30+ yrs old. Not trying to make a particular point. It’s still a good read!

#OnThisDayRM in 1942 the first Royal Marine Commando unit was officially formed. It was originally called The Royal Marine Commando then briefly 'A' Commando, before being retitled 40 RM Commando.
