I see this proposal as removing 100’s of tourists from PCH. Plus, if Long Beach joins, I could go E line to Santa Monica to Long Beach to Catalina w/o a car! Variety in transportation networks is always a good thing

The stress difference between biking next to a human driven car and biking next to a Waymo is night and day. It might take a generation but driverless tech IS pro walking / biking tech.

@aaron_lubeck The one switch I wish I could flip in the average person’s head about housing. Comparing your local coffee shop to Starbucks is ridiculous yet a developer that’s deeply attached to a place and cares about what they do gets treated like they’re the same.
Got to see an early release of The Long Walk, adapted from Stephen King’s novel written when he was 19 (!) First movie in a while I’ve continued to think about days/weeks after watching. Highly recommend! Eerily on the nose of today’s culture vibe for a book written in 1967.

One thing that always strikes me is how much focus there is on crime and personal safety for obvious reasons, yet Americans just seem to accept that over 40,000 people die in traffic accidents every year and never really talk about trying to bring that number down

This is what's wrong with the City of Los Angeles' building permit "clearance process" in a picture. Random depts, like LADWP, get to demand crazy things like this transformer pad in the most prominent spot on the sidewalk. You say "yes" or delay construction by a year.
Starting to update our City fees for various services (per council approval, I’m not a rogue monster) I think the reality of inflation, cost of goods & services, etc is really going to set in once these hit. I’ve argued against it but these fees are what it costs the City 😔
