When I applied for training, I thought a competition ratio of 5 was ridiculous. But now... 14? 21??27??? It's inexcusable. This isn't poor workforce planning, it's a scandal. Governments will turn the tap on and off as it suits but need to be reminded that these numbers…

In a new FOI response, the @gmcuk states it has no definition of "practising medicine" and that defining it is not within its role. A regulator that can't define the very thing it regulates is failing the public and the profession.

Just FYI - we have thousands of GPs (newly qualified AND experienced) who are unemployed, driving Ubers, using food banks… Watching themselves be replaced by people without a medical degree or a fraction of their training SHAME on all those who’ve played a part enabling this😞

Went to see my local GP, my issue was sorted in 15 seconds so she asked me what I did and I told her junior doctor When she asked me what do I want to and I said GP, she said ‘Oh that’s probably not a good idea, you should move abroad’ What a way to best confidence.
